Conscious Eating

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is than a fat ox and eaten with hatred – Proverbs 15:16

To put it another way, a meager meal will do more for your body where positive emotions are present than a rich meal eaten where negative emotions are present.

This precept simply teaches the importance of eating with awareness of our context – emotions, thoughts, motives, and energy within ouselves and from our surroundings before eating. It is easy to focus on what we eat while forgetting why and how we eat. The latter, will determine whether the food is helpful or detrimental to your body. So, next time you eat be mindful of your inner soul and surroundings, and prepare your body as temple giving praise to the Creator for the table of nourishment.
